Golfers - Sharpen the Short Game With This Nifty Little Trick

How often has your ball finished on the apron of the green and you are faced with a twenty yard shot to complete the hole. Question is, what club do you select to play the shot? It is just too far away to take a putter and you are reluctant to play a chip shot in case you mishit it, and throw a shot away.

Well there is a compromise which solves the problem, where you can chip and play the putter as well.

The solution is to putt using one of the short iron clubs. You can use any club, within the seven iron to pitching wedge spectrum, to play the shot. Here is the technique you need to be able to play the shot effectively.

1. Address the ball the same as you would if you were lining up a putt.

2. Use the same grip as you for your putter, but be sure to choke down on the club shaft, to allow you more control.

3. The hands should be forward of the ball at the address position, and make sure you keep them ahead as you play the shot.

4. Sweep the ball with the hands and arms, keeping the body still, just the same as you would play a long putt.

Practice this shot first before trying it for real on the golf course. It takes a while to get used to the feel of the shot, but once you have mastered it, the shot can be a great little stroke saver.
